The Russell Wilson era started bleak as the Denver Broncos’ playoff dreams suffered doomsday. The franchise’s hopes crashed hard when they went against the LA Rams. The defending Super Bowl champs spoiled the Orange Crush’s hopes with a whopping 51-point lead. Wilson put up a dangerously worse performance this year. After the blowout, a franchise legend and analyst blasted The Asterisk.

During the FS1’s Undisputed on Monday, host Shannon Sharpe critiqued Russel Wilson over his Christmas Day in-game performance. The ex-NFL TE set fire to the QB1, claiming that they let him cook, but Wilson ruined the feast. Sharpe is a former Broncos athlete and dearly loves the team. But he did not hold back either.

Shannon Sharpe mentioned, “Let me tell you what’s going to happen now. That’s new ownership. They didn’t hire you, you were hired before they got there. They got a lot of money. They’ll eat that money for a coach. Hey Russ, you better get back on your grind. You better make sure they know that this was a ‘blip’ and not a trend because they’ll eat your money next year.”

Sharpe added in his rant that Russell Wilson has lost his athletic ability and cannot outsmart anyone. He can’t make those improvised plays like he used to with the Seattle Seahawks. Obviously, it is not the thing The Asterisk was expecting to have. The Broncos quarterback completed 60.1 percent of his pass attempts for 3,019 yards this season. He had 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Russell Wilson seems to be in a safe zone after a dismal 2022 campaign. The franchise went 4-11, and Wilson had one of the worst seasons in his career. Despite such numbers, franchise GM George Paton is optimistic about Wilson but needs to be in better shape for their next campaign.

George Paton said via NFL.com that they did not make a coaching change because of Wilson, and he is not the reason they are getting a new coach. It concerns the entire organization and football team. It’s not about one player or whether the quarterback can be fixed. They are optimistic and believe he can improve.
