OJ Simpson knows a thing or two about legality. And how the government functions. The former NFL player and figure of controversy made his opinions clear on the Brittney Griner trade that the United States made with Russia in exchange for Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout. Juice thought that this trade for the WNBA star was bound to happen.

Team USA Olympic athlete and basketball talent Brittney Griner received nine years of prison time in Russia after she was accused of smuggling and possessing cannabis. Griner returned home as part of the deal. However, Putin didn’t want to negotiate for the prisoner and US Marine Paul Whelan, who remains in Russia. Dallas Cowboys DL Micah Parsons also thought that the current President should try to get Whelan back. But OJ knows that won’t happen so easily.

Russia demanded an exchange of proportionate measures for prisoner of war Paul Whelan and suggested the name of Russian assassin Vadim Krasikov. “Look, they weren’t gonna trade for this guy. They were not gonna trade for Whelan. So yeah, I’m glad she’s got out. And I’m sure there’s gotta be somebody they can trade and get Whelan right now,” OJ said on the Full Send Podcast.

Simpson received parole in 2017 after spending nine years behind bars. He was involved in the alleged killing of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. OJ got the acquittal in the trial but landed the conviction in 2008 as part of a civil lawsuit.

OJ Simpson shares a unique relationship with former President Donald Trump

In the podcast interview, OJ Simpson also mentioned the former POTUS from the Republican nomination, Donald Trump. Juice thought that Trump could and should have made the deal for the young WNBA star and Whelan. “I wondered why Donald didn’t try to trade back then because he seemed like he had a relationship with Putin. But Donald didn’t try to trade,” Simpson said. And his wonderment comes from a place of familiarity.

The former prison inmate and the former President were in the same social circles before they sailed into their eventual fortunes. In the podcast, OJ claimed that he hung out with Donald Trump in posh Manhattan clubs and various other nightspots in town. Mainly because the Juice was in New York doing NFL Live. And the two had “the same taste in ladies.” They had several mutual connections. And OJ even attended Trump’s second wedding to Marla Maples.

Despite the entire OJ trial and court drama surrounding the alleged killings, Donald Trump tried to get the former Buffalo Bills and 49ers RB and NFL MVP on an episode of the ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ show. However, that didn’t sadly pan out.
