Once referred to as a dual-threat QB of all time, Russell Wilson is currently going through the toughest phase of his professional career. While everyone lost hope in him, few people refused to give up on the passer. And one of them happens to be his former coach at Wisconsin, Bret Bielema.

While speaking on the Rich Eisen show, the current Illinois head coach spoke about a wide range of topics, including his past gigs in the NFL arena. He was so close to becoming the head coach of the Miami Dolphins in 2012; however, it slipped through his hands.

Extending this discussion, the host asked him about Russell Wilson and mentoring him during his college days and how the veteran has changed in his style of play. “You know, I really don’t. I don’t get to see much and have seen bits and pieces” Bielema said about Wilson’s current performance.

“He’s an incredible leader. He’s got great skills, and not just Russ, but it’s been amazing in my career to have the players play at the highest levels humanly possible. And on the same account everybody gets those rough stretches those tough moments, and my guess is whenever he returns, it’s going to be back to full strength”

“I’m excited to hopefully see him come back and do what he does because when he’s at his best. There are very few people who can compete with him” he added, detailing his expectations.

Indeed, Wilson had always been a generational talent full of energy and compassion. He had one of the greatest rookie seasons and spent a phenomenal decade at Seattle. Not to mention, a Super Bowl title has Wilson’s name carved on it. Unfortunately, the 2022 season proved to be a nightmare for his professional career going down 4-10 in his first year at Denver.

There is no debate over the fact that the franchise needs a major revamp inside out. Building a team around Wilson should be the primary focus of the management. Lots of injuries and the absence of players with the quarterback’s inaccuracies became an added embarrassment to the terrible season.

Meanwhile, Russell Wilson, who was out last game following a concussion will be back on Christmas eve. He will face the reigning Super Bowl champions LA Rams at SoFi stadium in hopes of mitigating the magnitude of their past losses.

“I feel great. Super aware, the medical team here did a great job to [to get me to] be able to heal quickly and get back on the field and be able to practice” Wilson said to the reporters. It will be interesting to see how things turn up for the side. Fans can tune in for more updates on the game.
