During a recent episode of ‘The Pat McAfee Show,’ McAfee delved into Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s podcast venture, ‘Archetypes,’ which reportedly secured a $20 million deal with Spotify to produce uplifting audio projects in 2020. However, the partnership came to an abrupt end after only 12 episodes. Former Indianapolis Colts player McAfee discussed the couple’s deal and their ongoing desire for privacy. Interestingly, McAfee highlighted a South Park episode where the animated versions of Harry and Meghan moved to South Park, Colorado, seeking privacy but ironically drawing attention to themselves.
McAfee humorously remarked on the situation, stating, “There’s the South Park depiction of what’s going on with the Royals since they’ve moved over…..knocking on the neighbor’s door literally for 25 minutes pretty much just them screaming we want our privacy to leave us alone in different places and as dumb Americans that is how I view it.” Regarding the podcast deal, McAfee acknowledged that if anyone were offered $20 million to produce 12 podcasts, it would be difficult to turn down. He didn’t criticize the couple for capitalizing on the opportunity but pointed out the irony of their attempt to distance themselves while engaging in interviews with Oprah, creating podcasts, and publishing books on the subject.
While discussing South Park’s satirical portrayal of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, McAfee offered some advice on why they should consider positioning themselves differently. He highlighted the irony of their desire for privacy while engaging in lucrative ventures related to their personal lives. McAfee’s humorous remark, “You can see why South Park went this way and yeah you’re cashing in on the thing,” implies that the couple may want to reevaluate their approach to maintaining privacy. Interestingly, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have also faced criticism from other notable podcasters, including the renowned Bill Simmons.
Spotify executive Bill Simmons labels Harry and Meghan ‘grifters’
The podcast series “Archetypes” was produced under Archewell Audio, an audio production company founded by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The series aimed to explore and challenge the labels that limit women’s progress and featured interviews conducted by Meghan with notable guests such as Markle’s bestie Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, Paris Hilton, and Trevor Noah. However, podcast host Bill Simmons has been vocal in his criticism of Prince Harry and Meghan, referring to them as “grifters” following the conclusion of their multi-year partnership with Spotify.
