NFL franchise Dallas Cowboys has had a life-long fan in soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker. He recently named one of the Cowboys players as his favorite athlete. The former WWE champion, famously known as the ‘Deadman’, was doing a Q&A rapid-fire when in a video. While answering a question regarding his favorite athlete outside of the WWE, he did answer in confidence the name of Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith.
Smith received an endorsement from one of the freakish WWE legends, who was seen as the most athletic wrestler of his time. While the Cowboys haven’t been able to make real noise in the playoffs, Smith has been a consistent performer.
The contributions from the long-time Cowboys LT have not gone unnoticed, with the Phenom relating to Smith in the video.

The veteran player was the 9th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft by the organization. Smith has since landed in Dallas and maximized every opportunity of what has been a Hall of Fame-level career. An 8-time Pro Bowler, he has been one of the best-left tackles to ever play in the NFL.
Are the Dallas Cowboys about to move on from Smith?
The league has always seen champion teams who have been running offensive lines with a reliable left tackle. Smith has played in Dallas for the past 11 seasons and received a spot on the 2010s All-Decade Team. But despite his impact on the field, Smith’s health and injury record have been concerning for the franchise.

Smith has not played a single season from start to finish since the 2015 NFL campaign, and he has missed 32 games. The Cowboys might not be able to afford to pay for his rehab while experiencing a cap hit of $17.5 million.
By the 2023 season, he will be entering his last year with the team and they can save $5.5 million, by cutting him before June 1st.

The team will find it hard to replace Smith despite the tempting financial relief due to the lack of players in his position. While cutting Smith would leave them in a weakened state, the best option will be to restructure his contract and keep him. The Cowboys Nation and the Deadman will be hoping the franchise does everything in their power to retain him for a crucial 2022 NFL campaign.
