His inability to win a National Championship happens to be one of them. Although it faded with the course of time, the recent blunder from ESPN reignited the discussions.

During the Orange Bowl broadcast on Friday Night, the chyron words on the screen addressed Peyton Manning as the 1998 National Champion. Unfortunately, that never happened and drew hilarious reactions from the fans.

During an exciting matchup between Tennessee and Clemson Tigers, the NFL Legend Peyton attended the game to cheer for his alma mater. When the camera turned onto him, the chyron mistakenly gave him the entitlement that he never earned. Well, it’s debatable whether it was a mistake or a deliberate attempt. Regardless, the two-time Super Bowl champion played for the Tennessee Vols from 1994 to 1997.

During this tenure, he posted incredible season records however suffered a Florida Jinx that inhibited his progress for the championship game. The Gators owned Manning and his teammates, defeating them for four consecutive years. Surprisingly, the very next year, in 1998, after he left college, Tee Martin, as the quarterback, bagged the championship title.

The Vols ultimately got crowned as the champions, and it became the biggest regret of Manning’s life. His season records 8-4, 11-1, 10-2 and 11-2 just remained numbers settling for Citrus Bowl in his college career.

Although Manning’s team sealed a thumping win defeating the opponents 31-14 on Friday Night, the highlight of the game was the “Championship” shoutout. Rather than accepting it as an error, few of the fans called it a deliberate attempt to roast the passer.
