There’s hardly a story of a rise to the top without the right amount of hardships involved. This is even more real in the fashion and modeling industry. There is no doubt that the supermodel Gisele Bündchen faced a lot of struggles in her career initially. So much so that she tries to altogether avoid going back to those dark memories from her early years. In a recent interview, Bündchen talked about her return to the fashion industry and the struggles that she went through.

In a recent interview from Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula with Vanity Fair reporter Michelle Ruiz, ex-Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady‘s ex-wife visited some of those dark places. Just to give us a glimpse into the thorny roads full of adversities when she started out.

This isn’t the first time the Brazilian bombshell addressed her starting years in the fashion industry. Gisele also mentioned in her 2018 memoir, ‘Lessons: My Path To A Meaningful Life’, about the time her fortunes changed, but at a heavy cost. On the way to becoming ‘The Body’ at iconic designer Alexander McQueen’s 1998 Golden Shower Fashion show in London, Bündchen had to do the unthinkable.

It wasn’t new to the fashion world. But it was alien to Bündchen. Gisele had to go topless on the ramp for the first time in her life, in a fishtail skirt. Oh, and it also rained while the models walked, probably hiding the then 18-year-old Brazilian’s actual tears from the fear and nervousness.

The things I’ve seen and the situations I’ve escaped from just because I have faith. You have to survive that. It’s just emotional. I feel everything so deeply, and when I remember it, I feel like I’m living it again. But I didn’t want to go back home empty-handed. My parents trusted me. I wanted to show them that I could do it. I didn’t want to fail,” she said, surrounded by what she described as Costa Rica’s “symphony of nature.

Despite being treated “like you are an object, like you have no feelings,” and countless insults to her face, Gisele made it to the top. And she reigned on the throne for a very long time. Until she met former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in 2006. The duo tied the knot in 2009 and after welcoming kids, Benjamin and Vivian Lake, Gisele’s fashion career took a backseat to her family priorities.

However, all that changed in October 2022. Gisele and Brady divorced after 13 years of marriage. And the former supermodel jumped straight back into the fashion world she once ruled.
