While teams negotiate with their players to finalize contract deals for the upcoming season of the NFL, it seems like the New York Giants have come to a standstill with negotiations for their quarterback, Daniel Jones. Despite the Giants GM being hopeful of coming to a possible conclusion to the contract negotiations, the demands made by the QB representatives feel like a farfetched idea for the franchise.

Even though Jones had his best NFL season leading the Giants to their first ever playoff position since 2016, the consistent $45 million demand irked the fans to retain the service of the QB.

In what we can consider being his best season of his four-year career, Jones has realized the value he brings to his team on the field. The QB has been a key performer for the Giants in the 2022 season, and the team would definitely like to retain the service of Jones to build their roster for the 2023 season. But the constant $45 million multi-year contract extension demand has led to a stalemate between the Giants and Daniel Jones.

This has also left fans feeling annoyed about the whole situation. Even though they consider the QB to be a good player, they feel like the overvaluation on Jones’ part will be a hindrance to further negotiation talks.

Despite the standstill, Giants GM Joe Schoen feels hopeful about coming to a possible agreement with Daniel Jones. He has been in talks with Jones’ agents directly, in order to pursue the possibility of retaining the player on a good enough deal that is suitable for both the sides in the end.

Will Jones walk with the Giants again?

With the free agency set to begin in just a few days, the Giants will possibly like to secure a future with Daniel Jones as their quarterback. If the negotiations come to a dead end, franchise tagging Jones does not feel like a possible alternative since it will be $8 million more than what the Giants pay Jones on an annual average for 2023 and 2024.

The quarterback has played well this year for the New York Giants. The team will definitely wish to have him back for another season. But this will only come true if both the parties meet each other halfway in terms of their demands. Thus, we hope both the team and the QB can create a future that will have fans on the edge of their seats for the upcoming season as well.
