History repeats itself! And that is exactly going on with the Green Bay Packers right now. Although everyone was happy for Aaron Rodgers grabbing a lucrative extension with the franchise, there might be a man who was not that happy for his counterpart. The Utah product Jordan Love is facing the same dilemma, that Aaron Rodgers once had for his predecessor and NFL superstar Brett Favre.

Recently, while speaking to the reporters, the Packers QB highlighted the chances for Love, who is desperately seeking an opportunity to replace Rodgers’ position on the roster.
Jordan Love was the first-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in the 2020 NFL draft class. Certainly, he was acquired as a backup option for Rodgers; however, eying as a potential prospect to become a franchise quarterback in the future.

But the situation dramatically changed after the Wisconsin alumnus signed an extension this offseason. Rodgers was offered a three-year $150 million contract keeping him through the 2024 season.
Well, this deal makes it clear that unless Rodgers incurs a serious injury, there is no way Love makes it to the top. He shall continue to render his services in a backup role. Recently, reporters asked Rodgers if Love has received enough criticism similar to what he faced with Brett Favre on the depth chart.

He said, “I think all of us come along at our own pace. I needed the years to get to where I was at. Whether the criticism was equal in ’05, ’06, and ’07 for me as it was for him, I don’t know. Some of that you kinda move past as you’ve had success. But I’m excited for him this preseason.”. Moreover, Rodgers also affirmed that Love had a great training camp making some good throws with consistent fundamentals.

Despite getting to play with one of the oldest and biggest NFL franchises, it is certainly a frustrating scenario for Love unable to lead from the front. Meanwhile, Rodgers admitted that it reminded him of waiting behind Favre in 2005.

“I think there’s always pressure on a first-round pick. The tracks are looking more similar by the day, [Love] being in his third year and me waiting behind Brett for three years.” Rodgers said to the reporters.
The reigning NFL MVP also mentioned that he was eagerly waiting for the rookie to take on the Saints this Friday. If not this season, will Jordan Love be able to start in 2023?
