The GOAT debates are inevitable in the world of professional sports. One such debate is in regard to the greatest tight end in the football world. Most fans name Shannon Sharpe along with Travis Kelce and Rob Gronkowski in the fray. Sitting right across Kelce, the three-time Super Bowl champion destroyed the debate with a simple stance.

Sharpe dominated the TE position during the 90s in the NFL. Gronkowski did a phenomenal job for the teams he played in and won four Super Bowl rings before hanging his cleats while Kelce is still at it with the Kansas City Chiefs. But who takes the title of the greatest TE in the world?

Shannon Sharpe picked Travis Kelce as the TE GOAT in the NFL. Talking about the issue on a podcast with the Kelce brothers, the three-time Super Bowl champion gave a simple argument to back up his claim.

“The bigger the moment, the bigger he plays. Who do you think Patrick’s gonna throw the ball to, he’s gonna throw it to him. They know that, 80,000 people know that, Patrick Mahomes knows that. He knows that and the defense knows that he’s getting the ball. But he still finds the way to bring the football down. When it’s all said and done, I don’t know how you can make an argument that Trav isn’t the greatest tight end,” Sharpe said on the ‘New Heights’ podcast.

“For a guy his size, he is fundamentally sound. He has what we call a wiggle. He can drop it you know, he can drop his hips. He’s not robotic,” Sharpe said in another part of the podcast.

Kelce has already achieved a lot in his career and is still going strong with 1000+ receiving yards in each of the NFL seasons since 2016. He has firmly established himself as an integral part of what can only be called the Chiefs dynasty of the last half a decade. How many rings will he have at the end of his career? Will he be able to match Rob Gronkowski‘s tally? Do share your opinions in the comments.
