It is not rare to see good coaches. Good coaches stick by their players and make them great on the field. However, there are some exceptionally great coaches who have a real impact on their players’ lives. Hamlin seems blessed to have one such coach. During this offseason, every team is getting ready to play another hard season. However. amidst this chaos, the head coach of the Bills remains firm in his support for his recovering player. Sean McDermott spoke about how he wishes to support his player in every aspect possible. As per NBC Sports, McDermott said, “The best thing we can do is support him all the way through this, and that is a big piece of it that is, mind, body, and spirit. It’s just not physically like, hey, in the weight room, it’s the mental piece as well.”
The looming question raised for support pertains to Hamlin’s future in football. As of now, there hasn’t been any definitive indication that Hamlin wants to return or retire from the field. However, there could be a chance that he might be considering retirement. Furthermore, this question that is raised seems like a valid one as Hamlin did end up having a very close health encounter that could have ended a lot worse.

The scary company that Hamlin joined after his cardiac arrest
With football being as dangerous as it is, it’s not surprising that there have been players who have had cardiac arrests on the field before Hamlin. However, unlike Hamlin, one of those players didn’t get lucky with survival. In 1971, a player by the name of Chuck Hughes suffered a cardiac arrest on the field. Hughes passed away within minutes, while the game was still supposed to be going. With a treacherous past like this in terms of cardiac arrests, it is not surprising that Hamlin might retire from the sport.
With such a scare in his career, it will be understandable if Hamlin is apprehensive to get back on the field. However, there haven’t been any official statements from him in terms of his playing status. It only remains to be seen if Hamlin decides to put on the blue again or if he will be bidding adieu to the good ol’ pigskin. What step do you think he will take?
