A game-changing moment unfolded in Week 2. The Denver Broncos, who initially held a commanding 21-3 lead over the Washington Commanders, ended up losing by a narrow margin of 35-33. This surprising defeat places the Orange Crush in a ‘hard to come back’ position, much like the Minnesota Vikings.

The NFL season is now in full swing, and there was considerable anticipation surrounding Russell Wilson and the team, especially with the arrival of Coach Sean Payton. However, as the season progresses, it appears that not much has changed, particularly in Wilson’s performance. Following the game on Sunday, Wilson addressed the press, acknowledging the harsh reality and the valuable lesson learned from their rivals.

Following Sunday’s game, Russell Wilson took the podium at a press conference to address the challenges he faced against the Commanders. Wilson stated, “I thought we did a great job in the first half in particular. Second half they got to us a little bit. They made some good plays, they got a great defensive line. We have a great offensive line.” He added, “They battled all day….They made a few good plays and that’s the reality of the game.”

Wilson endured a staggering seven sacks and threw an interception in the second half during Sunday afternoon’s game at Empower Field at Mile High. $245 million Russell Wilson’s struggle with sacks is not a new phenomenon, as he has been sacked a staggering 482 times in his NFL career. In fact, he holds the record for the most sacks endured by a Broncos QB in a single season, a record set in 2022.

The Broncos now stand with a 0-2 record in this NFL season. Payton emphasized the need for improvement in several key areas, including ensuring the right players are on the field, efficiently calling plays, and quickly getting to the line of scrimmage.

In his post-game remarks, Coach Payton admitted, “We burned timeouts in the first half, and I’m not used to doing. We’ve got to be better. I’ve got to be better, Russ has got to be sharper getting the play out.” He also suggested that the 34-year-old QB should consider wearing a wristband, a move that Seahawks coach Pete Carroll had previously indicated he wanted to implement but Wilson resisted.
