By virtue of Younghoe Koo’s missed field goal attempt, the Kansas City Chiefs eked out a tight win against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. The win took the Chiefs to a 14-1 record and confirmed the all-important AFC top seed for the franchise.
The low-scoring tie could have had a very different outcome had the Falcons converted a Patrick Mahomes interception in the 3rd quarter into a pick 6.
The Chiefs, 3rd and Goal, at the Falcons 7 yard line, were tied 7-7 with the Falcons. With the pocket collapsing, Mahomes ended up throwing an uncharacteristic pass straight at Falcons linebacker Foyesade Oluokun.

Oluokun ended up breaking multiple tackles and look set to score a pick 6. However, Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill had other ideas.
Hill ran the length of the pitch to dispossess the linebacker to keep the game level. The wide receiver’s tackle did not go unnoticed, and Patrick Mahomes lauded the heart showed by Hill on the play.
Hill’s tackle crucial to the outcome of the game
Known by fans as the ‘Cheetah’, Hill’s speed was on display during the chase down tackle. Talking to the media after the game, Mahomes applauded the WR’s effort.

This is the fourth time in the franchise’s history that they have managed to claim the NFC top seed. The win also helped the team match their winning record with their 10th straight win.
The top seed gives the Chiefs a first-round bye and home advantage during their first playoff game. The bye will provide a crucial window for Chiefs players to recuperate from the knocks sustained through the regular season.
