The 2022-2023 season did not bring a lot of luck for the Cleveland Browns. The team failed to improve upon their 8-9 record from their previous season as they finished 7-10. Additionally, they also could not advance to the playoffs for the second straight season. There was also a lot of tension even before the season started. But it looks like fans forgot their mediocre performance and rejoiced over the appointment of a new senior offensive assistant.

Pro Bowl QB Deshaun Watson faced some serious allegations in the off-season. As a result, the league and the team suspended the player who was brought from the Houston Texans in exchange for six draft picks including three first-round picks. Therefore, Cleveland started their backup QB, Jacob Brissett, for games that Watson was forced to miss. The team hit 4-7 under the backup and then the 27-year-old made his return in Week 13.

The team announced that they are adding a veteran coaching talent to the squad. This move is expected to improve the performance Watson gave after joining the team in Week 13.

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the team has hired veteran coach Bill Musgrave as an assistant on the offensive side of the ball. From 2011 through 2013, Musgrave collaborated with Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski while on the coaching staff of the Minnesota Vikings. Stefanski served as the quarterback coach’s assistant under Musgrave, who was the offensive coordinator.

Fans believe that the new coach will help raise Watson to the Pro Bowl status that he is so much capable of achieving.

Last season, the team’s offense was ranked 14th in the league. In addition to a rushing assault that ranked sixth in the league (146.5) behind All-Pro running back Nick Chubb, the team averaged 349.1 yards per game overall. However, the fans have hopes that Musgrave will elevate Watson’s gameplay. In six games, Watson completed 58.2 percent of his throws for 1102 yards, seven touchdowns, and five picks.
