LeBron James stopped supporting the Cowboys for this reason
LeBron James appeared on Instagram live where he talked about the reason he is no longer a Cowboys fan. The NBA legend had a hidden message for the franchise owner Jerry Jones on the value of free speech.“There was just a lot of things that was going on during when guys were kneeling, and guys were having freedom of speech. They wanted to do it in a very peaceful manner,” James said, talking about the kneeling controversy that rocked the NFL a few years ago.
“A lot of people in their front office and a lot of people that ran the organization was like, ‘If you do that around here, then you will never play for this franchise again.’ And I just didn’t think that was appropriate,” he added in an apparent reference to Jones.

The controversy LeBron James was referring to erupted in 2016. The then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick kneeled during the national anthem before a preseason game to protest against racism and police brutality. Many players from the National Football League joined in on the protest.
Kaepernick played the 2016 season for the Niners but hasn’t been seen in the NFL since then. Many have alleged that he was frozen out due to his political statements, but the league has refuted the claims.
