The Super Bowl is over, and the season is done. But some things that happened on the gridiron will irritate the fans all throughout the offseason. And one of those things is the refereeing this season. The NFL world is embarrassed as they saw the referees hit the rock bottom in the riveting Super Bowl showdown.

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles to lift the Vince Lombardi trophy for the second time in four seasons. But a referee call at the end of the game left a sour taste in many fans’ mouths.

The Chiefs got a holding call going their way late in the fourth quarter that almost certainly changed the course of the game. The referees called holding on the Eagles cornerback James Bradberry when he tried to stop JuJu Smith-Schuster. It was third and eight, with less than two minutes. The Chiefs got an automatic first down along with a gain in yardage. That set up the Super Bowl winning field goal for Harrison Butker.

But the NFL world did not approve of the call. Many fans called it embarrassing, including the Tennessee Titans tackle Taylor Lewan.

This fan has termed the call embarrassing for the officials.

Another fan has apparently joined the ‘NFL is rigged’ bandwagon.

For this fan, the holding was a phantom call by the officials.

According to another fan, the officials just followed the script.

This fan says it is the standard of the NFL officials.

For another fan, it didn’t look even close to a hold.

Both teams poured their heart and soul into the performance at the State Farm Stadium. But only one team kept plugging till the end to take the trophy home.

The Chiefs clipped the Eagles’ wings

The Eagles have wreaked havoc all through the 2022 season. And they almost ran away with the Vince Lombardi trophy at the end. But the Chiefs’ offense exploded in the fourth quarter to clip their wings mid-air.

Patrick Mahomes earned the MVP honors in the Super Bowl, just like he did for the regular season. He threw three touchdown passes in the game to set the Chiefs for a win. With both the MVP awards in the bag, Mahomes became the first player to be in this position since Kurt Warner in the 1999 season.
