Geno Smith didn’t forget his biggest inspiration in life even on the biggest day in his career so far. As the QB bagged a new deal with the Seahawks, he took the opportunity to thank God at the first opportunity he got.
“Thank you, Lord,” Smith wrote in a tweet with the folded hands emoji.
The Seahawks have agreed to extend the QB’s contract by three years. And they have given him a deal worth $105 million. That takes his average annual salary to $35 million a year. Quite a leap for a QB who was always thought of as a backup option by everyone in the league.

The Seahawks lost Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos at the start of the 2022 season. Many wrote off Seattle’s chances of making it to the playoffs without their star quarterback. However, little did anyone expect that Geno Smith, who took over Wilson’s position, would not only perform well but surpass Wilson’s records for the entire season.
While Wilson struggled during his first year as a Bronco, Smith took the Seahawks to the playoffs in his first attempt. The Seattle based franchise finished the regular season with a 9-8 overall record and a wildcard spot in the NFC postseason. Although they lost the wildcard round to the San Francisco 49ers, it was enough for Smith to nail his starting spot for the future.
