Everyone has undergone several ups and downs in their life, but one has to keep moving ahead to win! Julio Jones is now facing one such dark phase of his life. The star who was prone to uncountable injuries is now released by his team Tennessee Titans.

The wide receiver is indeed a valuable asset in the world of the NFL. But his injuries kept him away from all the fortunes and achievements in his career. The seven-time Pro-Bowl is likely to be released with a post-June 1 designation, ending his tenure just one year after he was picked by the club.

Julio Jones & his lingering injuries

The former Atlanta Falcons superstar featured for the team since 2011 before being traded to the Titans in 2021. Jones was an absolute bull in the WR position, his abilities were phenomenal. Due to this reason, the Titans decided to keep him until the 2024 season. Unfortunately, he is released due to underperformance and inability to meet expectations. This quick move will now help the Titans achieve a $9.5 million salary-cap space.

Because of his injuries, Jones was able to play in just 10 games the previous season. He made 31 receptions for 434 yards and a single touchdown, which stipulated his career’s lowest records and disappointed the team management.

He was more outside than being on the field contributing to the team, and this aspect became consistent. Due to all these reasons, Jones couldn’t stand up to the expectations set by the falcons, leading to his trade in consecutive seasons.

Records set by the Tennessee Titans wide receiver

For more than 9 years, Jones was the most trustworthy WR for the Atlanta Falcons. He made records for the team with 848 catches for 12,896 yards and 60 touchdowns during the tenure. The year 2015 saw him unleash his true potential by securing 136 catches for 1,871 yards in the season.

However, all these records got diminished in his six-year streak of frequent hamstring injuries. He could not complete a single season properly, creating a burden on the aspirations and plans of the team.

Last year, the Titans tried relying on the 33-year-old WR. He was acquired along with a 2023 sixth-round draft pick from the falcons. The move was supposed to create a balance for their unstable receiving ends, but in return created more troubles for the team.

A J Brown, his teammate in the Titans bid a sweet sendoff for the veteran and reminisced his learnings from the star. Well, it’s yet to see how Jones will make his way to a safe landing spot in the upcoming NFL season.
