Patrick Mahomes is known for his love for fur babies. Mahomes along with his wife Brittany raises two dogs, Steel and Silver, who the couple deem an integral part of their family. The Kansas City captain, who initially had a fear for the four-legged friends, developed a love for them once he spent time with them, after he gifted a canine to Brittany. The couple was still courting, and it was a Valentine’s Day gift back in 2017.

Mahomes is a proud dog dad now, to the point that he even relates to his fur kid. “Me and my dog Steel are exactly the same person, except he’s a dog,” he once revealed about his dog. As Mahomes embraces the role of a dog parent, so does Brittany.

A helping hand for our canine friends

Brittany adores fur babies as much as hubby Mahomes. The $10 million-worth former soccer player got their first dog, Steel, when she was still in college. In an expression of her love for them, Brittany recently took to her Instagram, extending a sweet gesture and aligning with a worthy cause.

The KC Pet Project, a nonprofit charitable Animal shelter based in Kansas City, has waived fees for a list of dogs up for adoption. Brittany wrote, “All these babies need a home too 🥺”, sharing the Projects’ official post to her Instagram story and garnering much attention for the initiative.

The list includes abandoned dogs that have been at the shelter for more than 30 days, due to a range of reasons such as quality of life and difficult placement due to various behavior traits. According to the American Pet Products Association, the US alone has over 90 million dogs.

Brittany joining hands with the animal shelter is indeed a worthy cause, aimed at our canine friends. The commendable gesture is not as a one-off thing, though – this is not the first time she has extended her support to the project.

Brittany and Patrick Mahomes have teamed up several times to support their furry friends. The duo has highlighted the importance of adopting pets, responsible pet ownership, and saving animal lives through various initiatives.

In a heartwarming gesture, the pair collaborated with the KC pet project back in 2019 under their ’15 and the Mahomies Foundation’ on a project to eradicate pet homelessness. The successful initiative facilitated the adoption of over 70 dogs within a weekend. The foundation also supplied pet food for a year, a custom dog hoodie, and other pet supplies for 15 deserving families.
