NFL Team Cuts Player Days After WR Changes His Name To ‘Chosen’

Last month, the Cardinals‘ wide receiver Robbie Anderson caused a stir on the internet when he changed his first name to ‘Chosen’. Often, people change their names in hope of reviving the lost luck. However, it seems like the WR’s name change did not bring good fortunes for him, as the Arizona team has officially cut him from their roster. Earlier, NFL Insider Dov Kleiman took to Twitter and announced the News.

Notably, the Cardinals acquired the WR from the Panthers back in October last year. Anderson played only 10 games for the Cardinals; however, Anderson’s performance was not noteworthy, as he recorded only 7 catches for 76 yards. Safe to say, Anderson’s performance did not meet the Cardinals’ expectations, as they released him.

The Cardinals cut off Chosen Anderson

As per Kleiman, the Cardinals have saved around $12 million in cap space after releasing Anderson. Indeed, this opens a massive possibility for the Arizona team during the free agency.

It is worth noting that the Cardinals gave up a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 seventh-round to sign Anderson from the Panthers. Anderson joined the New York Jets back in 2016 as an undrafted free agent. He performed really well with the jets; later the Panthers signed him for his services. With the Panthers also, the WR showcased his amazing talent.

Then last month, he changed his name and posted on his Instagram. In the caption, he wrote, “Anderson R, Chosen. Please Address CORRECTLY me as CHOSEN FROM NOW ON.”

Later, he also announced that he would further his education with his wife at the University of Miami. So far, everything was going according to plan for him until the Cardinals’ decision. Now, he will be waiting for free agency, possibly to get into a proper team to play in the 2023 season.

Cardinals are putting the NFL teams on notice after making so many changes

Before the start of the 2023 season, the Cardinals made a whole lot of changes to their coaching unit. Initially, they appointed Jonathan Gannon as their head coach. Notably, Gannon was the defensive coordinator for the Eagles team, who reached the Super Bowl in the 2022 season.

Then, they created history by appointing Nick Rallis their defensive coordinator, who was also with the Eagles. Now, after offloading Anderson, they could sign some really great players, who could help the Cardinals reach the playoffs in the 2023 season.
