Dallas Cowboys’ cornerback Trevon Diggs is setting the gridiron on fire as he made headlines for the fifth consecutive time this season. As he intercepted a pass AGAIN in Sunday’s game against the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium.
Diggs has made six interceptions in just five regular-season games this season including two last week against the Panthers. And with that, the 24-year-old cornerback is attracting a lot of attention as a meritorious candidate for the Defensive Player of the Year.

Diggs the Defensive Player of the Year?
His commendable and consistent displays five weeks into the regular season have grabbed the attention of some other veteran quarterbacks like Richard Sherman. The Bucs cornerback recently took to Twitter to applaud the feat achieved by the young Cowboys CB and he too is under the impression that he may be the well-deserving player for the ‘DPOY’.

Sherman in his tweet wrote, “Bro @TrevonDiggs is DPOY right now! Keep eating!” Although this is not for the first time that the Cowboys’ forthcoming superstar has made everyone go wow with contemplation of his talents. He has done the same last year too when Diggs picked nine interceptions in his past 10 games through his rookie season in 2020.

Trevon Diggs digging up the record books
Diggs tied Don Bishop’s 1961 Cowboys record with picks in five consecutive games to start a season. And he leads the NFL rankings with six interceptions, twice as many as any other player.

Cowboys’ former star receiver Dez Bryant called Diggs the best cornerback in the NFL on Twitter. And why wouldn’t he? The young cornerback has delivered insane numbers in both of his seasons with the franchise.

Although with the given cards playing out for the rookie, he might have a very good chance to get a shot as the Defensive Player of the Year. In fact, he seems to be the leading player in this race so far. However, will he keep his tremendous form alive in his next game against the Patriots?
