NFL franchise Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Rob Gronkowski had a lot of money riding on their season finale. The Week 18 outing against the Carolina Panthers wasn’t as important for the Buccaneers, who already had clinched their playoff spot. Apart from his $8 million in salary and signing bonuses this season, he had some contract incentives.

Gronk entered the Panthers’ game on Sunday with a shot at reaching three separate incentives valued at $500,000 each. He ended up securing two of his incentive targets, adding a $1 million bonus to his earnings.
He let his best friend and Buccaneers teammate QB Tom Brady know he needs his help one more time. Brady was happy to oblige and help Gronk reach the incentive target number. The connection between Brady and Gronk is one of the legendary bromances in all the NFL. While talking about his incentive on the sidelines with a Buccaneers’ staff member, Gronk states, “If I don’t get the seventh catch, I have to go get a real job”.

Looking back on the tapes, it appears Brady was saving himself for the wildcard game against the Philadelphia Eagles. With his TE in the game, Brady threw the ball by putting it on the money to Gronk, who walked away doubling his money. The catch also marks Gronkowski’s 55th catch of the season for 802 rushing yards and 6 TDs.
Looking ahead, both Brady and his Buccaneers, find themselves in an uphill battle to repeat as Super Bowl champions. The injury to Chris Godwin and losing Antonio Brown restricts and reduce Brady’s targets. But there are still some targets for him to find in the way of TEs Gronkowski and Cameron Brate. The former has been one of his main men, while the latter is the new emerging candidate.

It is really quite mind-boggling to talk about Brady and him winning his potential 8th ring. The statement really captures the truth, which is Tom Brady won all his Super Bowls because of his support cast. He needs his supporting cast to be the best version of himself: the future Hall of Fame player who is arguably one of the greatest champions in American sports.
