Pat McAfee has always been very appreciative of Patrick Mahomes. He has been very vocal about the quarterback being a talented and skilled individual who has led his team through to four AFC Championship Games in the past four years. Mahomes’ play-making ability has been exceptional and even the podcaster has made it clear in his statements.

However, during the most recent AFC Championship Game, Mahomes did not look himself. Although the game saw a very electrifying start from the quarterback, but it lacked a lot of energy in the end. The Chiefs gave up a gigantic 18-point lead in the latter part of the game, handing the Bengals their first ticket to the Super Bowl after 33 years.
Many of the Chiefs fans did not feel good about Patrick, especially after his overtime interception, which really turned the game around. The fans seemed worried about the 26-year-old quarterback and so did Pat McAfee. The former punter believed there was something that was bothering Mahomes in the field.

“He had always done well in these biggest games, and then the second half just complete fall apart,” McAfee said. “Let’s assume it’s the entire offense. Let’s do that whole thing and not just blame it completely on him, but maybe it was Jackson and Brittany.”

The NFL has clearly been very annoyed with the duo, leading to making harsh comments about them. Their presence in the league week after week, along with some unappreciative acts here and there, has really turned many NFL fans into Chiefs haters, even though they love Mahomes. Later during the show, McAfee even said that maybe this could have been the last year that the tag team duo affected Patrick’s performance.

McAfee on Brittany and Jackson as the team of insufferability

“There are some people in the studio that are team Britney, and this is not one of those things,” McAfee said. “But they’ve been thrusted into the spotlight as well at a young age, right? Off the field, Patrick Mahomes, then there’s videos obviously surfacing from yesterday from the tag team of insufferability over there. I mean, there’s just a lot of stuff, but I think next season we’ll see a very different group, but I am bummed for the Chiefs.”

The Chiefs fans are all very surprised to see them fall apart in the second half in the Arrowhead Stadium. This was the first time in Mahomes’ career that he has given away a win after having a 15+ point lead at one point in the game. It was most certainly a shock for many to see Mahomes crumble under pressure.
