Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and achievements in his young NFL career have propelled him into GOAT conversations. Among those conversations are comparisons with legendary American sporting icons between LeBron James and Michael Jordan. While comparisons with Tom Brady have been more prominent following the Super Bowl LV loss, Mahomes seems to be clearing all these rumors.
During a recent appearance on ESPN’s First Take, Mahomes took the opportunity to talk about the rivalry stating, “I mean, it’s still early for the LeBron-Michael Jordan stuff, but for me, if you’re in this league then you’re trying to win. You’re trying to be the best player on that football field every single day. Tom’s done it for a long time, and he’s won a lot of Super Bowls. When you’re coming up and watching football, you want to go out there and win championships like he’s done.”

He adds that he will be trying to compete with Brady like every other NFL QB looking to win the Super Bowl. While Mahomes is underplaying his impact on the Chiefs’ organization, his numbers justify the comparisons with Brady. The Chiefs QB has been projecting a promising future that could see him surpass the Buccaneers QB in the coming seasons.
Patrick Mahomes is creating a place for his legend in the sport
Mahomes has already achieved a list of accolades that few NFL players have managed to garner early in their NFL careers. The 4-time Pro Bowler has already recorded a 50-TD season and won the Super Bowl, league, and Super Bowl MVP honors. While Brady appears to be a benchmark that currently seems untouchable, Mahomes is close to reaching that level.
