Andy Reid’s impressive Kansas City Chiefs outfit ran riot against the winless New York Jets on Sunday. The Super Bowl champions registered a 35-9 win at the Arrowhead Stadium in Week 8.

This propelled Patrick Mahomes and Co. to a 7-1 record at the halfway stage of the 2020 NFL season. Their only loss this season came at the hands of the Derek Carr-led Las Vegas Raiders a couple of weeks ago.

The likes of Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and rookie Clyde-Edwards Helaire have all impressed over the last 8 weeks. Coach Reid bolstered the Chiefs’ offense by bringing in Jets RB Le’Veon Bell on a trade deal last month.

The Chiefs are well in line to make the NFL Playoffs yet again. But can anyone stop them from going all the way and winning their second consecutive Lombardi Trophy?

Mark Schlereth explains how to one-up the Kansas City Chiefs

2-time Pro Bowler Mark Schlereth appeared on a recent episode of the Pat McAfee Show. The former Indianapolis Colts kicker asked the 3-time Super Bowl winner about what teams must do in order to beat the Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs.

“Everybody will tell you well to beat the #Chiefs you gotta get in a track meet with them you have to outscore them… That’s just a bunch of s**t.

“You’ve got to limit their possessions, you got to get one or two stops in those limited eight possessions. And then every time you have the ball, you possess it, you hold on to it, you keep Patrick Mahomes on the field on the sideline, and you got to come away with touchdowns,” Schlereth said on the show.

Schlereth tips Pittsburgh Steelers to beat the Mahomes and the Chiefs

Mike Tomlin’s Pittsburgh Steelers remain the only unbeaten team in the NFL. Both these teams have played each other on 35 occasions in regular and post-season games, and the Steelers lead this rivalry by a margin of 23-12.

Schlereth feels that Big Ben and his band of speedsters could pull off a win and stop the Chiefs offense if they meet in the Playoffs.

He said, “The thing to me is, possess the ball, keep Mahomes and the offense on the sideline. Understand that they’re going to score and they’re going to score in a minute and a half, two minutes.

“But you have to possess it. You’ve got to limit their opportunities, you get to get one or two stops in that. So they only have six scoring opportunities.

“And if you do that, you got a chance but if you think you’re coming out there and going, ‘Hey, we’re just as fast as the chiefs.’ At the end of the day, you’re going to look up at the score.

“It’s going to be 45 to you know 17 you’re like what the hell happened? Well, you got Chiefs that’s what. Steelers could do it though. We’ll see how it goes.”

The last time these teams faced off was in 2018. The Chiefs made their way to a 42-37 win that night. Will we see a Patrick Mahomes – Ben Roethlisberger duel later this season? Never say never!
