The Triple Crown-winning WR came to know about how special the new Rams QB was before even playing in an NFL game. He recounts a moment from their 2021 May OTAs that was a clear indication of how good Stafford was with a football in his hands. During his recent appearance on the Colin Cowherd podcast, Kupp describes his astonishment about the skills and how they pulled it during their Super Bowl game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
He said, “Probably the play that happened during OTAs, probably a year ago to the day almost, that it was like the light went on – like, ‘Oh, that is what makes this guy great’ – is the exact same play that we ran that he no-looked in the Super Bowl. That was the first time where I went back, I felt what he had done – I’m like, ‘I think he might’ve just no-looked that one’.”
Kupp adds that he was in awe of Stafford’s ability to read defenses while throwing the football and manipulating them into making errors.
Are Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp coming back for Round 2?
The Rams wideout seems to be sharing his admiration of Stafford and how he runs their offense by dictating the plays with supreme confidence. The dynamic duo of Kupp and Stafford will be key to the franchise’s success again next season. During the 2021 NFL playoffs, Stafford seemed to believe in Kupp as the most reliable passing outlet, and it worked wonders for their offense.
The no-look passes from the Rams QB seem to be slowly becoming his trademark on the football field.
While his style appears to be flashy, Stafford has been relying on these passes and leaving defensive coordinators head-scratching to decode.
