The Chiefs and Eagles will face off for the Lombardi Trophy at the State Farm Arena on February 12. And fans of all 32 teams in the NFL are gradually congregating in picking their sides for the showdown at Super Bowl LVII. Cowboys fans will definitely be rooting for the Chiefs. And Patrick Mahomes even has a Philadelphia athlete rooting for him.

NBA legend and former Piston Rasheed Wallace was born and brought up in Philadelphia. However, his footballing allegiance lies in the Kansas City Chiefs. And this put off many Philly fans who were surprised by the lack of hometown loyalty.

Wallace has been a Chiefs fan for the longest time. Thirty years, to be precise. And the former Trailblazer even attended multiple Chiefs games wearing the Kingdom Red. Rasheed was present at the Chiefs-Eagles 2009 Week 3 regular season game. And he sported the legendary Derrick Thomas jersey. So it’s no surprise to see the diehard Chiefs fan rooting for Mahomes.

“We got these pretenders over here called the Philadelphia Pigeons. And we got the bona fide champions over here called the Kansas City Chiefs. We’re gonna go fist to the face, toe to toe. The Kansas City Chiefs lead the head-to-head count against Philly 5-4. However, the most fascinating thing about this Super Bowl LVII matchup is Kansas’ head coach Andy Reid. Coach Reid was at the helm of the Philadelphia Eagles for 14 years. And he has been the winning coach in this fixture in the last 6 games, three for Philly and three for the Chiefs.

Patrick Mahomes has only faced the Eagles once in his playing career in 2021. The 2020 Super Bowl MVP had 5 touchdowns and 1 pick in the 42-30 win at Lincoln Financial Field last regular season. And with Reid on their side, Rasheed Wallace may get what he wishes for. A Chiefs Super Bowl. Their second Lombardi in three years.
