As we are nearing the new NFL season, the fans wait patiently for the madness to begin! Fans got to work as soon as Pro Football Focus sent out its list of the top 50 NFL players entering the 2022 season. The players are analyzed depending on the context and the wins above the replacement (WAR) metric. One can only expect the NFL GOAT, Tom Brady, to be on the top of the list, right? Well, he isn’t. Another player who did not make it to the list is the new Denver Broncos’ QB, Russell Wilson.

The man who dominates the list this year is the Super Bowl champion. He is also the defensive tackle for the Los Angeles Rams, Aaron Donald. This piqued the host of the show Undisputed: Skip and Shannon’s Skip Bayless, who took it to Twitter to announce his treasured opinions. Understandably, Skip disapproved of seeing the seven-time Super Bowl champion at the eighth spot.

Where is Tom Brady on the list?

It is no news that the legendary QB is the best athlete in the game that is why it was shocking to see Brady so low on the spot. He is named the eighth-best NFL player of the coming season. However, Skip Bayless thinks Brady deserves the first spot.

Given the experience that Tom Brady brings to his team, it is only apt to consider him the first spot. Since Brady joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brady’s record is 29-10 overall (5-1 in the playoffs). The Bucs have scored 30 or more points in 23/39 games. That’s 59% which is the highest percentage in the league over that span. Brady has also thrown 68 touchdowns with zero interceptions in the red zone since joining the Bucs (No other QB has thrown over 35).

If the argument is the player who wins the most, the best, it should be Brady. If technicalities and context are included, the list makes sense.

The 7x Super Bowl champ averaged 30.3 PPG as a starter for the Bucs. The Bucs have the best offense in the NFL since Brady joined the Bucs: 30.4 PPG. Tom Brady is the GOAT because of these reasons. He has a high football IQ, talent, coachability, focus, and dedication. All these qualities make him the best and the most well-deserved candidate for the first spot.

Although the legendary athlete could not top the list this season, and we can also say that legends do not need validation, topping the list would have added more to the records, for instance, PFF QB grade 2020: 2nd in NFL and PFF QB grade 2021: 1st in NFL.
