Geno Smith exceeded everybody’s expectations when he took a Seattle Seahawks franchise sans Russell Wilson to the playoffs this year. However, the NFL world never got to hear about their journey from Geno, owing to his extremely minimal media exposure. However, recently, he explained why remains away from all the limelight.
For a change, Geno Smith opened up on ‘The Pivot Podcast’ with hosts and former NFL stars Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder, and Fred Taylor. And the recently extended Hawks quarterback explained his deep-seated aversion to the incessant media attention.
Geno Smith uses philosophy to explain himself

After producing just two 2000-yard plus passing seasons in the last eight years, Geno was on a mission when he finally got his chance to start the 2022 season. And he didn’t disappoint Seattle and Pete Carroll, passing for 4282 yards and throwing 30 touchdowns with a passer rating of 100.8. Naturally, retired Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder asked him why he is away from the spotlight, unlike his fellow top-tier QBs.

“I’m just not a man of many words. I study Socrates and Plato. One of the things I like about Socrates. He never wrote down his ideologies. He just talked to his people. And then they spread the word. That’s how all this came about. And so for me. I don’t wanna express myself through words. I want my action to do the talking. Because words sometimes can go in vain,” the Seahawks signal-caller said.
Smith certainly walked the walk this season and bagged the NFL Comeback Player of the Year accolade.
Geno will have to talk more with the new contract reports
The Seahawks had made their mind up about Geno Smith long before they signed the quarterback to an extension yesterday. The two parties agreed to a three-year $105 million extension, with $52 million paying out in year one.

This is the second big quarterback announcement coming during this off-season after Derek Carr signed with the New Orleans Saints this week. This only leaves Lamar Jackson and Aaron Rodgers among the big names to still provide an answer to the fans. However, within the NFL world, there was no doubt about Geno getting the contract after turning his career around in incredible fashion. But Geno still feels he already expresses enough.

“I’m expressing myself through my fashion, through my Instagram. Through different forms of art. I got production companies. I got record labels. So I love artists. And I’m helping them become bigger. And I want the people around me to be bigger than me. I don’t want it to be about me. I wanna fall back and let everybody else shine,” Geno said, showing some true quarterbacking traits.

“They wrote me off. I ain’t write back though,” he had said after winning his first Seahawks game as a starter this season. And looks like there is no turning back anymore for 32-year-old Geno Smith.
