For a long time, Tom Brady seemed to have all the answers on the football field. However, this year was anything but a TB12 highlight show. And at 45, suddenly Brady looks like a shell of his former self. Not just metaphorically. The seven-time Super Bowl champion has lost significant weight after the tumultuous year he had.
Packed with a divorce, a struggling season, and a blowout playoff loss to the Dallas Cowboys, who Brady hadn’t lost to before, the year’s tolls added up as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB reportedly lost 15 pounds before the start of the season this year. And fans are worried about their champion.

Brady announced his retirement from football in February last year, only to change his mind 40 days later. And this led to obvious problems at home, and his ex-wife and Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen didn’t wait around as TB12’s second priority.
Brady confessed on the ‘Let’s Go Podcast’ after his divorce in October that the entire separation episode caused massive stress. And stress can usually cause a drastic weight drop. ESPN’s NFL reporter Jeff Darlington did a deep-dive into Brady’s 2022-23 season and all the personal strifes endured.

“Tampa Bay’s team struggled this season. There is no doubt the offense never clicked. But Brady also knows his own mental focus was gone for the bulk of the season. His physical stature, faced with 15 pounds of weight loss, was also in peril. He felt at times like his preseason anguish ended his chances at success before the regular season had even started,” Darlington said in the video he tweeted.
Fans saw the change in TB12 right from the season start
Brady took an 11-day leave from his preseason training camp owing to personal problems with Gisele and the impending divorce. When he returned, his loyal fans immediately spotted a stark change in the 6 foot 4, 225-pound Brady. Some fans commented on Brady’s physique way back in September.
Tom Brady does NOT look healthy…like at all! He looks "sickly" skinny, to the point of concern. #NFL #SNF

Stress of divorce? As if lawyers aren't doing all of it for him.

Every guy that has been divorced then immediately hits the gym to lose 15 lbs at least.

i thought it would be the stress of losing to the cowboys…

Fans also brought up possible additional causes for the weight loss. This year was tough on all fronts for Brady. Three back-t0-back 2-interception games for the first time in his 23-year of decorated NFL career and ending the season on an 8-10 losing record could have had something to do with it.

Then there was also the entire FTX fallout and the ensuing cryptocurrency lawsuit saga against Brady and a bunch of superstar athletes from the NFL and NBA worlds. Tom and Gisele’s equity investments also took a massive hit because of the dissolution of the allegedly fraudulent SBF venture. The NFL world hopes for the return of a healthy 46-year-old TB12 next year.
