To say that Sunday’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers was exhilarating is an understatement. In a game that kept fans on the edge of their seats till the very end, Chiefs’ star man Patrick Mahomes came in clutch once again. Sunday night’s performance showed the NFL community that Mahomes is in a different class altogether.

Trailing by 7 at the end of the first half, the Chiefs managed to shut the Chargers out in the 3rd quarter. And outscored them 14-7 in the 4th quarter, thanks to a last-minute touchdown throw from Mahomes. The Chargers had their own opportunity to score, and maybe take the game into overtime. But Chargers’ QB Justin Herbert threw an interception that sealed the game in the Chiefs’ favor.

Mahomes managed to rack up 20/34 for 329 yards, with 3 touchdowns. And tight end Travis Kelce caught all three throws. The Kelce-Mahomes duo has been impressive this season, sometimes emerging as the dominant force against opponent defenses. And the Chiefs dominated the game defensively too, sacking Herbert 5 times. Although the Chargers were able to get ahead in the first half, the Chiefs found their footing and trounced them in the second half.

Fans ecstatic after Patrick Mahomes delivers MVP-caliber performance

Mahomes’ performance on Sunday added fuel to an already long-running debate this season: the MVP title. With their win over the Chargers, the Chiefs are top of their division and the top seed in the AFC. Added to that, QB’s solid performances are establishing him as the ideal candidate for MVP this season. Or, that’s what fans think, anyway.
