When it comes to NFL wide receivers, Atlanta Falcons great Larry Fitzgerald Jr. is right up there with the greats. The 37-year old has 17,492 receiving yards and 121 receiving touchdowns to his name over a career spanning 16 years. So when Ja’Marr Chase hears himself being compared with a legend, he should be filled with pride.

At least, that’s what former NFL quarterback-turned-analyst Dan Orlovsky feels.

Ja’Marr Chase tipped for greatness in the coming years

Former Detroit Lions QB Dan Orlovsky made an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up. While talking about upcoming 2021 NFL Draft hot prospect, Ja’Marr Chase, Orlovsky made eyebrow-raising comparisons with Falcons legend Larry Fitzgerald.

He said, “Hey, we got the next Larry Fitzgerald in this draft. Mr. Chase is stinking awesome Greenie, the last time we saw Ja’Marr Chase play, he was 19 years old. He averaged 20 yards a catch, and he abused Clemson in the national championship game…he’s remarkable, his body control, his ability to go track the football.

“His physicality is absolutely fantastic…and the last thing I’d say is that if Philadelphia decides to take a quarterback at six if the only quarterback left is Mac Jones and they take Mac Jones, the NFL should go to a 31 team league because that should not be their pick. Take Jamar chase,” Orlovsky said on the show.

Newly-appointed Philadelphia Eagles HC Nick Sirianni must have his eye on Chase this summer. The 21-year old has 2,093 receiving yards and 23 receiving TDs to his name over two years with Louisiana State University (LSU).  The prestigious Fred Biletnikoff Award winner opted out of the 2020 College Football season due to COVID-19 concerns.

But he remains one of the top prospects at this year’s draft. Heisman Trophy winner De’Vonta Smith and Chase are the two wide receivers expected to secure first-round picks. In a draft filled with bright young quarterbacks such as Trevor Lawrence (Clemson Tigers), Zach Wilson (BYU), Justin Fields (Ohio State), Mac Jones (Alabama Crimson Tide), and even Trey Lance (NDSU), the Eagles have shot at picking the exciting youngster.

We would love to see Philly quarterback Jalen Hurts link up with another future superstar. Will Larry Fitzgerald be watching on his television set or on the football field remains a whole other debate.
