The Denver Broncos have made an unconventional addition to their coaching staff. Their current quarterback Russell Wilson posted his worst season stats in his long-illustrated career, having completed only 3,524 yards to go with a career-low 16 touchdowns. It was clear that the man needed some help, but the help he got was quite a surprise for the entire NFL community.
The Broncos have hired 28-year-old Davis Webb as the team’s QB coach. Having spent most of his time on the bench, and only having one significant NFL start, Webb’s credentials are definitely a matter of concern. Not to mention, he will be coaching Wilson, who holds a much better career record than him and is superior in terms of experience as well.

Webb was officially released from his practice squad contract earlier this January, and now has a new responsibility to hone. Coaching the 9x pro bowler Wilson will turn out to be quite the task for Webb, and NFL Twitter agrees.

Even though Webb has never been the starting quarterback for a team, he has had the opportunity to closely observe some of the greats out there. Webb played behind Patrick Mahomes for a season and must have picked up some tricks from the 2x Super Bowl champion.
Davis Webb played behind Patrick Mahomes for one year so he should know how he thinks. And, he set records at UC Berkley. He's 6' 5" and as long as he can tell Wilson how the QB position is supposed to be played, we have no place to go but up. pic.twitter.com/m1tS5zcfJp

While others fear that the experience difference might get in the way of Webb coaching Wilson.

No matter how things work out, it will be extremely interesting to watch the approach that the Broncos have taken ahead of the new season. The offensive genius of Sean Payton is expected to shine, but only time will tell if Webb can fulfill his expectations as well.
Webb and his offers
As surprising as it might sound, this is not the first time that Davis Webb has been offered a coaching position. As per a report by Adam Schefter, Webbs was approached by the Buffalo Bills for the exact same position that he accepted with the Denver Broncos.

Schefter mentioned that Webb would consider making the jump into coaching if the right opportunity presented itself, and as it turns out Denver was exactly what he was waiting for.
