The tweet reads, “Steve McMichael, a star defensive tackle on the Chicago Bears’ famed 1985 Super Bowl championship team who has ALS, was in intensive care because of sepsis and pneumonia, his wife said Friday.” Moreover, his wife, Misty McMichael, shared updates on Instagram, asking for prayers for her husband, using a graphic, “Prayers for Mongo.”

She also added a caption, “We were admitted last night to the ICU at Silver Cross with Sepsis and pneumonia.” McMichael’s family has shared that despite being diagnosed with ALS in 2021, he is currently awake and conscious after being admitted to the hospital while unconscious. His wife attributes the power of prayers and the collective hope for his induction into the Hall of Fame as crucial factors in keeping him strong.
The outpouring of support from the community and his fans on social media has been remarkable, with many joining in prayer and passionately urging the NFL to bestow the Hall of Fame honor upon the legendary star.

As news of his serious condition surfaced, devoted fans flocked to social media, sending heartfelt prayers for his swift recovery. One fan expressed, “Prayers for Mongo 🙏. One of my all-time favorite Bears.”

Amidst the outpouring of support, one user offered a simple, heartfelt blessing, “God bless sir!!”
