Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was having a fantastic individual season in 2020 with 1,800+ passing yards and 9 passing TDs. But everything took a turn for the worse in Week 5 while playing against the New York Giants. Scans later revealed that the former ROTY award winner suffered a double compound fracture on his right ankle.

The Cowboys are currently sitting at the bottom of the NFC East division. Prescott is currently in rehabilitation. He was pictured at a Cowboys practice session in crutches last week along with running back Ezekiel Elliott. The 27-year-old remains a respected figure in the Cowboys dressing room. But will owner Jerry Jones hand Prescott the contract he’s asking for?

Stephen A. Smith does not hold back while defending Dak Prescott

Stephen A. Smith is known for his outspoken outbursts on social media. The popular sportscaster was at it again on a recent segment of ESPN’s First Take talking about Jerry Jones’ recent comments on injured quarterback Dak Prescott.

He said, “I’m disgusted. And I’m gonna be very serious here because obviously when I hate on the Cowboys, it’s because of their fans. It’s not because of the organization I happen to be very, very fond of Jerry Jones, to be honest with you. But I gotta tell you this, I’ve got enough on my plate….Because listening to this man’s drivel is disgusting. Let me get this straight Dak Prescott fresh off for 30 touchdowns. 11 interceptions, 4900 plus yards passing. You still can’t reach a long-term agreement with him?”

“The fact that Jerry Jones would take the opportunity to critique anything about that press thing about Dak Prescott is blasphemous, just blasphemous, there’s no really there’s no excuse for it…This brother, in his absence, has shown his greatness not just as a player, but as a leader who is worthy of everything he wanted from Jerry Jones,” Smith said on the show.

Prescott was playing on a $31.4 million franchise tag this season. The fourth-year QB is expected to extend his stay in Texas by signing a lengthy contract extension in the summer. But will Jerry Jones give in to Prescott’s demands, especially since he is currently out injured? Watch this space for more.
