The former MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson has been the talk of the town recently. He has not yet signed a deal with the Baltimore Ravens. Every day, there are new developments in the situation as time passes. The fans are perplexed by the player’s refusal to take the team’s money. Is he forging a way out of Baltimore?

As per the PFT, “Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Jackson has told the Ravens that he’s currently too focused on having his best possible year and that he does not want to do a deal until the 2022 season is over.” But what does it mean for his future?

Lamar Jackson was a college football superstar. In the Draft, he was a fan favorite. He was selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. And it did not take the quarterback long to make an impact on the field. 2019 was the best year of the athlete. He won the MVP award along with a Pro Bowl selection. He was also the NFL passing touchdowns leader that year.

His rookie years are coming to an end and the franchise doesn’t really want to let him go. The Ravens want their superstar quarterback to stick around for longer, and to do that, they need to sign a new deal. But until now there have been no talks at all about a new contract. Jackson is not even getting engaged in any sort of talks or negotiations. The franchise is willing to pay him big money, but the QB is keeping everything on the down-low at the moment. He won’t even start the process of making offers or requesting them.

Why won’t Jackson sign a deal?

During the regular season, Lamar Jackson was focused on football. He did not want anything to affect his performance on the field. So Jackson has put the talks about the contract in the back seat. But now that the season is over, Jackson says he is focusing more on his health and recovery. Getting healthy is his number one priority.

Jackson does not want to engage in any contract-related talks until the year 2022 comes to an end. It is unclear if the quarterback will stay with the Baltimore Ravens or find a new home with a different franchise. For now, his health and the game come first.
