“Somehow It’s Always About Him”: NFL Fans Are Taking Aaron Rodgers’ “Class Act” on Damar Hamlin Injury in Bad Taste

The Monday Night Damar Hamlin shock is still fresh in the minds of the NFL world. Several current and ex-players have joined the fans to wish the best for Hamlin. The Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers sent his prayers too through a friend in the Buffalo Bills. But the fans are taking his class act in the situation in a bad taste.

Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on the field during the Week 17 clash with the Cincinnati Bengals. He remains hospitalized in critical condition. And everybody including the Packers QB is standing with him in support.

Fans take the actions of Aaron Rodgers in a bad taste 

During his weekly appearance on the ‘Pat McAfee Show’, Aaron Rodgers revealed that he reached out to the Bills QB Josh Allen after the Damar Hamlin incident.

“I reached out to Josh right away, didn’t expect a response. He actually texted me back from the locker room and you know, just cause he’s a close friend and I felt for him, watching his face and just putting myself in their shoes,” Rodgers said on the show.

But many fans have taken the classy gesture in a really bad taste. They are accusing Rodgers of making everything about himself. The back-to-back NFL MVP surely sent a message of support when Allen needed it the most. But a section of fans is not impressed.

This fan thinks Rodgers always makes it about himself in every situation.

Another fan shared the same view about the Packers QB.

This fan doesn’t look happy with Rodgers on this matter.

Looks like a sarcastic take on the QB’s comments.

Many players and fans sent their prayers for the Bills’ safety. And it is safe to say Rodgers did the same. But putting oneself in Allen’s shoes, he and his teammates required some consoling too. And maybe that is what Rodgers tried when he reached out to the Bills QB. Hamlin is still in the ICU although his condition is improving.

The NFL brotherhood 

What many from the outside don’t understand is that the NFL is like a brotherhood. Sure, there are rivalries between teams and players. But when something like the Damar Hamlin collapse happens, all of that goes out of the window.

Aaron Rodgers said something similar in the same interaction with Pat McAfee. He said that everyone who plays the sport understands the physical and mental toll it takes. The Packers QB said that is a common thread that unites all players despite the rivalries and bad blood. 

Everyone wants the best for Hamlin and wishes him well. But the whole Bills squad is badly shaken, and fans need to stand beside them too. Just like Rodgers did.
