Justin Herbert starred once again as the sophomore quarterback put in yet another stellar display to down veteran Jon Gruden. As a result, the Chargers now sit atop of the AFC West table.

But that wasn’t the only headline after what was a brilliant game of Monday Night football. There was a slight delay in kick-off earlier in the evening. But considering the hype surrounding the SoFi Stadium, social media was ablaze with various posts.

SoFi Stadium faces the wrath of NFL fans after a 35-min delay on Monday

Lighting in the area surrounding the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA. led to a 35-minute delay ahead of the Chargers vs Raiders Monday night primetime game. The game was scheduled to begin at 8:15 PM EST. However, unfavourable weather conditions pushed kick-off time to 8:50 PM EST.

This new stadium was opened to the public last year. It took north of $5 billion to construct this magnificent stadium which also has overhead roofs. Fans were curious as to how that wasn’t enough to get the green light for kickoff despite a lightning storm. Here’s what The Athletic reporter, Daniel Popper, has to say on the same.

Herbert and Co. will not pay too much heed to the criticism being directed towards their home stadium at this point. All their energy and attention will not turn towards Week 5.

The Los Angeles Chargers are scheduled to take on the high-flying Cleveland Browns this weekend. This game will also be held at the SoFi Stadium. Hopefully, the weather is kinder to the players and fans on this occasion. Regardless, a Herbert vs Mayfield showdown makes for an exciting game of football so make sure to tune in.
