Being stunned by ‘this f**king dude,’ McAfee couldn’t help but rave about his iconic performance on his show yesterday. But that’s not all. He recently took to his tweet to honor the most prominent names in the sports millennia.

“Life is to be lived,” Pat McAfee has an eye for playing with words. In his most recent tweet, he took a shot at three iconic figures in sports history: Lionel Messi, David Beckham, and LeBron James. This tweet came in response to the World Cup winner’s debut at Inter Miami on the 21st. It began with the NBA legend, 38, LeBron James, who welcomed Messi before his big stage debut, tweeting his photos hugging the Argentinian soccer star in the stadium stating, “Welcome brother!!! Always good to see and be in the presence of GREATNESS!!! @leomessi 🙏🏾✊🏾🤎👑 #ComingToAmerica,” on Friday.

On Saturday, at 1-1 tier and in the final seconds of Saturday’s Leagues Cup group match against Cruz Azul of Mexico City, Messi scored a three-pointer to give his team a victory. And all the big names celebrated the legend’s big win with fans in the stadium. Inter Miami owner and former England footballer David Beckham was overwhelmed with emotions as he said, “All of these people that come down here to see Leo just step onto the pitch, let alone just do what he’s done. It’s a dream come true for everyone in this stadium to see. It’s such a moment for this country, such a moment for this league.”

Aside from LeBron, stars like Serena Williams and Kim Kardashian were stunned by the timeless 94th-minute tie-breaker free kick, putting Messi on the League Map. NFL stars like Chiefs #QB1 Patrick Mahomes also took to Twitter to comment about the match saying, “Wild man!”. With the kickoffs just around the corner, this game indeed served as a breather.
How the World Cup Winner ended up in Miami
The World-Cup winner followed his predecessors(like his team owner David Beckham), as he entered a certain age before moving to US soccer. But the legendary debut of Lionel Messi in Miami was certainly a memorable one. After all, he fulfilled Beckham’s expectations that came with signing up on the team. His fan following led to historic ticket price of $544 and sold out $200 jerseys! Though, that’s not all. The one tale not many know is how Miami convinced Messi to be with them. And here’s how: Inter Miami managing owner Jorge Mas revealed how David was heavily involved in officiating this $50-$60 million dollar per season deal with seven times Ballon d’Or winner in 2019. He said, “I spent three years. A year and a half, very intensely. Beckham talked with Leo, only about football issues, because he was playing.” This came after the Messi announced his free-agency status in MLS post his Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain contract was seen to term.

It was a surprise to fans that he decided to move to America even after great offers from Dubai and his ex-club Barcelona. In a ‘Lessons in Leadership’ seminar the former England star, Beckham shared his take on this decision, “I have always said, that if I had the opportunity to bring the best players in the game to Miami, I will. So when I hear that one of the best players who has won everything in the game, and still doing what he’s doing, wants to play for my team, it’s a massive moment for us.” And to say Beckham’s decision about Lionel was solid. Though, what would be real interesting to see how the future games would pan out. Will Messi deliver? But one thing is for sure, even if the team dives, their social media following is on an exponential rise (1 million to 4.5 million and counting till now) because of him.
