Former Manchester United midfielder and soccer legend Roy Keane has been a keen follower of the NFL, which he put to use when he drew a vivid comparison of the young Manchester City and England football prodigy Phil Foden, with Tom Brady.

This just shows how much of a sport has NFL developed over the years, that people from different parts of the world have started giving references from the sport.

Phil Foden has Tom Brady like playmaking skills

Although Tom Brady has become much more than just a household name in the league and the States. But his monumental achievements have become so noteworthy that people from all parts of the world cannot help but compare him with other profound entities.

Just as Roy Keane compared the young and brilliant soccer star Phil Foden with the NFL icon. Speaking on ITV at half-time, Keane said, “I love my American football, and he is like a top quarterback, like Tom Brady. He’s just picking people out, he’s got runners, wide-receivers, and he’s making it look so easy.”

Former England international Jermain Defoe agreed on Keane’s comparison and said, “When you play against teams that play with a low block, it’s quite difficult to go through, so sometimes you’ve got to go around or over. That’s what we’ve done.”

“He’s sort of dropped into a fullback position and he’s playing these passes like a Kevin De Bruyne tonight. His range of passing tonight has been unbelievable.”

Foden is a prodigal soccer star

The 21-year-old soccer phenomenon has shown tremendous form both at the club level and at the international level. During the clash between the PL giants, City and Liverpool, Foden contributed a goal and an assist from his side to make the score level by the 90-minute mark.

He continued the same form during his match against Andorra in the World Cup Qualifiers. Foden did not contribute more than just an assist to Saka, but his exceptional playmaking abilities disturbed the Andorra side winning him a Man of the Match for it. And so his comparison with Tom Brady feels logical with the kind of footballing instincts he possesses.
