Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs had a ride to remember on the road to the Lombardi this season. Overcoming a multitude of adversities, the Chiefs were hyped for the Super Bowl last Sunday. And the NFL released some goosebumps-inducing footage for the Chiefs Kingdom.
The Chiefs’ quarterback won his second Super Bowl MVP with his 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions night against the Philadelphia Eagles. And all this, despite fighting through a rough ankle injury a few weeks ago that usually takes double the recovery and rehab. However, the pre-game speech showed Mahomes’ true mental makeup.

The Chiefs were the better team for the night. However, that was not how they stood before the game started. The Eagles were the stronger unit, both offense and defense-wise. And the Chiefs had Pat Mahomes and Travis Kelce. Mahomes had already been suffering from a high ankle sprain from their divisional round fixture against the Jaguars. However, the 27-year-old signal-caller brought the warrior mentality out, and his team followed suit.

“Hey, you gotta love this sh*t right here. Let’s go show the world who we f—-ing are. From the get go, play for yourself, play for each other. And now let’s go out there and win a f—ing football game,” Mahomes told his fired-up troop moments before taking the field.

And it worked, as it wasn’t just Pat and Travis who showed up for the night. The entire offense stepped up. The offensive linemen did a fabulous job of protecting Mahomes from the fierce Eagles pass rushing that ended the season with a league-high 70 sacks. Also, Kadarius Toney made the Giants regret trading him in a major way with a TD and a game-changing 65-yard punt return.
Fans were awe-struck by Mahomes’ ability to drive through the pain
Patrick played through pain against the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship game. However, he didn’t roll his injured ankle anytime during that game. However, the Chiefs Kingdom realised their worst fears when Mahomes limped out towards the end of the second quarter during the Super Bowl. And the Mic’D Up footage showed exactly how much pain he was in. Fans were all praises for the QB after watching the footage.
