The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are setting their bets on Baker Mayfield. Mayfield has somewhat of a decent start with the Cleveland Browns leading them to their first playoff win in 26 years but was eventually pushed out of the team with the acquisition of Deshaun Watson.
Mayfield’s career has been a challenging road, as he went from the No. 1 overall draft pick to being with four NFL teams in just a span of nine months.
Now, another daunting task awaits Mayfield as he is all set to make his official return as Tom Brady’s successor or so the Tampa Bay franchise hopes. While the team is looking forward to Mayfield shining in his role, the fanbase seems a bit skeptical. Ever since the Buccaneers unveiled Baker Mayfield as their new QB, fans have been expressing outrage on the daily.

The Buccs fanbase is not happy
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed Baker Mayfield to a one-year deal that will reportedly pay him $8.5 million — especially because of how last year panned out. With the deal being official, Mayfield made his public appearance as a Buccs QB.

Despite Mayfield putting on a happy face in the pictures, the same cannot be said for the die-hard Buccs fans.
One user felt the need to make a prediction for next season, “6-12 season coming, LFG!!!”
While another felt that Kyle Trask deserved the first opportunity, “Let’s give Trask the chance first. He has looked really good”
Another Buccs fan took a harsher approach, ” hey bro not too be rude but The real bucs Fans didn’t want you we hope Kyle wins the job and Jason lose his”
While another just cared about winning, “actually…REAL Bucs fans want whoever gives us the best chance to win! I don’t care if it’s Trask, Baker or someone completely different…as long as we win, I’m happy!”
One part felt that the NFC south had no clear favorites, “yeah Baker aight…NFC south wide open right now”
There were however some fans, who genuinely want to give Mayfield a chance, “Wow guys, Let’s give Baker a chance👏🏼👏🏼 Congrats @bakermayfield !!! Welcome to Tampa!!”
One particular fan felt that the ones attacking Mayfield were bandwagon fans, “give the man a chance, you can tell who is a true buccs fan in the comments. bandwagon fans can leave now, retire with TB12”
While the task ahead is a big one for Mayfield, Kyle Trask faces a similar challenge. The two QBs need to follow in the footsteps of one of the best to ever lace it up, and that too in front of a vicious Tampa Bay crowd.

Baker Mayfield is not Tom Brady
Baker Mayfield is perfectly aware of the narratives surrounding him. While making his introductory speech, Mayfield was asked about Tom Brady, and his answer displayed nothing but pure class.
“Listen, I’m never going to be Tom Brady, There’s a reason he’s won so many Super Bowls. He’s the greatest of all time. There’s no doubt about that. I’m not going to try to be Tom. I’m going to be me. That’s what has gotten me to this point.”

Mayfield feels that his personality occasionally does rub people off the wrong way, but he intends to embrace that. Mayfield does not believe in impressing people and wants to do his best because of his love for the game.
