Kansas City Chiefs are known for their genuine fans across the country. However, there is one who came long before the team’s recent triumphs. As it turns out, DC Comics’s most successful Superman, Henry Cavill, not only was a fan of the team off-screen but possibly on-screen as well. Also, the beloved superhero himself was from Kansas City and was even spotted wearing jerseys from various teams of the city in the box office movie.
In the movie, Cavill can be seen sporting not only a Royals shirt but also a Kansas Jayhawks shirt. Even after the movie’s tremendous success and the Chiefs acquiring their own superhero in Patrick Mahomes, Cavill expressed his genuine appreciation for being part of the Chiefs fandom during an interview.

Cavill made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s show in 2019, even before Mahomes’ Super Bowl victory, and he passionately shared why he chose to support the Chiefs. Originally from the UK, Cavill eventually migrated to the US with his parents long before he had an acting career. While his parents weren’t particularly interested in sports, the Man of Steel himself was deeply captivated by football. Growing up watching soccer and rugby in the UK, his visit to Arrowhead Stadium gave him an exhilarating rush, instantly making him not only fall in love with football but also with the team.
During the interview, even the host, Jimmy Kimmel, was taken aback by Cavill’s love for football, which carries a different meaning in the UK. Cavill was undeniably enthusiastic as he explained his support for the Chiefs. He shared that he gradually started watching football and quickly developed a deep passion for the sport. When it came time to choose a team, he aligned himself with the Chiefs, given that Superman himself hails from the same hometown.

Cavill saw a flamethrower in the game
The Man of Steel went on to share his experience at the Chiefs’ home stadium during the interview. He revealed how it was completely different from any other experience that he’s ever had. Cavill mentioned being amazed when he saw flamethrowers shooting jets of fire into the sky from the sidelines. He compared this spectacle to how in the UK, teams simply walk onto the field, sing a song, and play the game as usual.
Since the interview, a lot has changed, with the Chiefs winning two Super Bowls, and their own Superman, Mahomes, leading the team. This year holds the promise of further improvement for the Chiefs with their enhanced roster.
