Roger Staubach is a legend in the NFL for his exploits with the Dallas Cowboys. But he has become an even bigger legend off the field than he was ever on it. Staubach earned the highest salary of $160,000 with the Cowboys while playing football. Roger Staubach won everything he could with the Cowboys in 11 seasons in the 1970s. But still, the highest paycheck he ever got was around $160,000- way less than stars like O. J. Simpson made at that point. It dwarfs in front of even the rookie contracts in the league these days. But still, he is worth a staggering $600 million, the highest any NFL player has made off the field. It is all thanks to his side hustle in real estate.

He started working as a real estate broker in an independent firm right after his rookie season in 1970. After seven years of juggling work and a career in the NFL, he started his own real estate venture in 1977, The Staubach Company. His business grew over the next few decades before he sold his business in 2008 for a whopping $603 million.

Captain America mesmerized the fans

Roger Staubach did not only make it big off the football field, but he also terrorized everyone on it. During his time with the Cowboys, he led the franchise to two Super Bowl titles in five appearances in the big game. His plays earned him the nickname of ‘Captain America’, ‘Roger the Dodger’, or ‘Captain Comeback’. So many nicknames for one player? Even Brady didn’t have that privilege.

Staubach led the league in passer ratings on four separate occasions in his career. He made it to the Pro Bowl six times and also won the Super MVP for his performance in the 6th installment of the extravaganza.
