The sale of the Washington Commanders has been one that all NFL fans have been keeping an eye on for months. Last year, Commanders owner Daniel Snyder announced his decision to sell the NFL team, which he owned since 1999. And this sparked interest in a lot of billionaires, from Jeff Bezos to Josh Harris, to compete in a race to acquire the Washington Commanders.
But Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils owner Harris, along with NBA legend Magic Johnson, were seen as the possible new owners of the team.
And now, after moments of back and forth, the Washington Commanders are going to see a new dawn. It will be the start of a new era that does not go under the name of Dan Snyder anymore.

The sale of the Washington Commanders is finally being approved
Initially, Snyder agreed with Harris and his group to sell the team for $6.05 billion in May. But the NFL finance committee wanted Harris to adjust his offer so that it falls under the league’s rules and regulations. The primary owner must put up 30% of the money and could not carry more than $1.1 billion in debt. And now, after two months, it seems like the owner cap is finally being passed on to Dan Snyder.
A monumental Washington day: NFL owners now have unanimously approved the $6.05 billion sale of the Washington Commanders from Dan Snyder to a group led by Josh Harris, per league source.

According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter, NFL owners met up on Thursday to approve the sale of the Washington Commanders to Josh Harris and his group. With the price tag of $6.05 billion approved, this becomes the largest buyout of a North American Sports team, with Rob Walton’s acquisition of the Denver Broncos last year falling to second place. When Josh Harris spoke to reporters after the sale, he said that he feels “an awesome responsibility to the city of Washington.” He said, “I know what I’ve got to do. It comes down to winning. It’s on me and our ownership group to deliver. That’s what we’re going to do.”

There has been a 17-month-long investigation going on into the workplace misconduct allegedly reported against Dan Snyder during his tenure as an owner. Independent investigator Mary Jo White submitted a 23-page report where she recorded all of her findings. From reviewing 10,000 documents to interviewing witnesses, all evidence points towards Snyder being guilty of the charges placed against him. And this led to the NFL putting a $60 million fine on Snyder as he walks out from his ownership reign. While Snyder has come forward to deny these allegations, it is unknown whether Snyder will decide to challenge the fine and allegations placed against him.
