The New England Patriots are still working to revive their former glory days during the era of Tom Brady. Last season, they had an 8-9 record, finishing third in the AFC East Division behind the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills. The team drafted QB Mac Jones in 2021 as the successor to Brady once he left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Recently, Tom Brady made headlines when he met up with Jones and former teammate and safety Devin McCourty.
Now, the New England Patriots have another interesting development in the locker ahead of the 2023 season. And this update might be a chance for the $6.4 billion team to bring back its former glory.
Former Patriots teammate of Tom Brady coming back to the team?

Back in 2015, the Patriots drafted DE Trey Flowers as their fourth-round pick. He went on to play with Tom Brady during his 20-season stint with the team till 2020. In 2019, he signed a five-year $90 million deal with the Detroit Lions. But after landing in the injured reserve, he was released before the start of the 2022 season. He joined the Miami Dolphins in August last year, before landing in the injured reserve once again. Currently, a free agent, could Trey Flowers be coming back to Foxborough?
According to an article by Pats Pulpit, the 29-year-old recently visited the team for a workout on Monday. He was also previously hosted back in March as well when the free agency was underway. But a deal did not materialize between Flowers and the Patriots. He previously won two Super Bowl championships with Tom Brady between 2015 and 2019. And now, with the latest developments in place, could Trey Flowers be making his way back to his place of origin in the NFL?

Despite placing third last season, the Patriots boast a well-rounded defense. And the addition of the 29-year-old DE could help bolster their defensive capabilities even more.

Could the team’s offense match the caliber of their defense?
While the offensive line struggled on the gridiron, the Patriots had one of the top-performing defenses in the 2022 season. They gave up only 105.5 yards, ranking them sixth in the 2022 campaign. But despite their defensive stronghold, the offensive failed, ranking 28th overall last season. This led to them not even making it to the playoffs. Now, OC Bill O’Brien has a mammoth task at hand, as he has to develop his offensive playbook in order to have a great season ahead. And with the situation surrounding Mac Jones, will he still be considered the starting QB?
