When people will look back at this offseason in the NFL, nearly a decade from now, the Aaron Rodgers contract fiasco will be the highlight of this. The trade debacle around the QB has been the talk of the town all off-season long. From his blackout in the woods to his trade request to the Jets, we’ve seen it all. Not just fans but media personalities also seem to be tired of waiting for confirmation on the status of the QB.

The Jets are still in relentless pursuit of Rodgers, of course. But with each passing day, the wait for the trade continues to dawn upon fans. And now, the latest news from the Jets seems to have struck a nerve with many fans. Especially the ESPN show ‘Get Up’, with host Mike Greenberg’s disbelief over the Jets

The Jets are about to land Aaron Rodgers, one of the best QBs in the league. What’s their next move? Well, they’ve expressed interest in TCU quarterback Max Duggan ahead of the 2023 NFL draft. Another backup QB behind Rodgers doesn’t seem like the best of ideas, especially with Zach Wilson in the hut. And Greeny feels exactly the same.

But not everyone feels the same as Greeny on the Jets drafting another QB. Longtime ‘Get Up’ fans were left feeling ‘sickened’ by Greenberg’s reaction to the Jets front office moves.

Fans were fed up with the apparent Jets bias of the Get Up host.

Especially with the continued Jets coverage on the show, many fans were bored of the same content.

As this fan says, fans seem to be sick of the daily Aaron Rodgers drama coverage.

But looking purely from the perspective of the Jets, perhaps it is the right idea to cover the team’s backup position by investing in the future. Perhaps, a sneaky draft pick is exactly what ends up saving the Jets’ season at some time.

Why are the Jets getting another QB?

Well, for starters, Aaron Rodgers is 39 years old. Not everybody is Tom Brady to play till 45. So the Jets probably do not have much time with Rodgers at the helm of the team. Even when Rodgers plays, it isn’t difficult to believe that the QB could be affected by injuries due to his age. Having a solid backup position is a must for the Jets.

With a QB Hut that currently boasts Zach Wilson and Chris Streveler, perhaps the Jets are right in investing for another future QB. The Zach Wilson experiment has been a failure from top to bottom. By drafting a solid QB, the Jets allow themselves to develop a brand new young QB behind Rodgers while also bolstering the backup position. With Rodgers approaching the end of his career, the Jets would probably want to make the most of his time.
