The Kyrie Irving controversy
The controversy erupted when Irving shared the link to the 2018 film ‘Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America’. Activists have criticized the movie for its antisemitic content. After facing backlash about the move, the Nets star initially defended his action. But he later apologized for the same through his Instagram account.
“To All Jewish families and Communities that are hurt and affected from my post, I am deeply sorry to have caused you pain, and I apologize,” Irving wrote in the apology post. “I initially reacted out of emotion to being unjustly labeled Anti-Semitic, instead of focusing on the healing process of my Jewish Brothers and Sisters that were hurt from the hateful remarks made in the Documentary,” the NBA star added.
Nevertheless, the Nets suspended him without pay for the team’s next five games and he lost a lucrative Nike contract.

Just weeks ago, rapper Ye was at the center of a similar controversy. The rapper, formerly known as Kanye West, made some antisemitic remarks on the ‘Drink Champs’. Many sports stars left Ye’s Donda Sports agency in the wake of the controversy. But Brown refused to resign as its President.
Antonio Brown will be anything but out of the news.
