Eagles’ QB Jalen Hurts had a fantastic season in 2022, as he took the Philly team to the Super Bowl. A season before that, he made his first playoff appearance, and he has improved massively since then, which was quite visible in the 2022 season. After signing a 4-year deal with the Eagles back in 2020, Hurts will be entering his final year of the contract in 2023. Safe to say, many Eagles’ fans want Hurts to stay with the team for a long time. Recently, Hurts’ teammate AJ Brown also made his stance clear regarding the QB’s contract situation.

The 23-year-old wide receiver recently appeared on the ‘Raw Room’ podcast, where he jokingly gave a warning to the Eagles’ front office to pay the money Hurts deserves. Otherwise, he could also leave the team with Hurts.
AJ Brown jokingly warned the Eagles’ front office regarding Jalen Hurts’ contract
NFL insider Dov Kleiman posted the footage from the podcast video on Twitter, where Brown said, “I love Philly… And what I’m about to say – you do not pay this man (Jalen Hurts), just ship me off wherever he gonna go.”

He also sent a direct message to the general manager of the Eagles, Howie Roseman, saying, “Listen, so you’re talking about pressure? Howie, get it done.”
Safe to say, the pressure is on Roseman now to keep both Brown and Hurts on the same team, i.e. the Eagles. Notably, Hurts has been nominated for the MVP, All-Pro, and Pro Bowl. In the regular season, he had 22 passing touchdowns and 13 rushing touchdowns, as the Eagles conquered the NFC. In the Super Bowl, he had four touchdowns (1 passing and 3 rushing TDs) and showed his tremendous ability.
As for Brown, he also had a tremendous regular season, recording 13 rushing touchdowns overall and TD in the Super Bowl as well. Certainly, the Eagles can’t afford to lose them both after their terrific showing in the last season.

As mentioned earlier, Hurts is now entering the final year of his contract. In terms of money, Roseman could easily extend his contract, which would create $2 million in cap space. After that, the Eagles’ GM could easily look into the free-agent market as well.
Apart from Hurts, many other QBs, including Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, and Justine Herbert, are also negotiating with their respective teams. Currently, many quarterbacks are going for a fully guaranteed contract since Deshaun Watson’s deal with the Browns.

In that case, Hurts might be looking for that same sort of deal with the Eagles and it will be interesting to see if the Philly team offers him a fully guaranteed contract. Certainly, Hurts’ teammate Brown understands the gravity of the situation. Although he joked about leaving with Hurts, it could turn into reality in the future.
