It’s been 27 years since the OJ Simpson murder trial. However, that doesn’t stop the tingle every time a new piece of information comes floating along. The murder of OJ’s former wife Nicole Brown and her friend in Simpson’s Rockingham estate remains one of the biggest whodunnits to this day, despite acquittals and convictions.
A minor, yet key witness in the murder trial was Nicole’s friend and OJ Simpson’s guest at the time of the murders, Kato Kaelin. Kaelin came on a recent interview with VladTV. And he revealed some interesting pointers about the events leading up to the horrific incident.

OJ’s Rockingham property housed an additional three to four guest bungalow. And even though Kato hesitated at first, OJ coerced him into living at his guest house until he found something more permanent.
However, Nicole was never happy with this arrangement, having just filed for divorce from the former Buffalo Bills NFL star. “She was pi**ed off. She said that this manipulated you. And I didn’t feel it. I just didn’t feel right for me to be going and staying under the same roof,” Kaelin said in the interview.
Kato stayed rent-free with OJ Simpson
In addition to emotional manipulation in helping out someone find a place, Nicole and Kato also suspected financial manipulation. Kato was Nicole’s friend and paid her $500 monthly rent when he lived with her. However, when OJ asked him to move into the guest house, the former running back cut off the rent to make the arrangement irresistible. However, Kaelin refused and ended up impressing Simpson even more.

Kato was present at the Brentwood Los Angeles estate during the murders on June 12, 1994. And ended up providing some valuable evidence regarding Simpson’s movements during the window of the crime. However, judicial errors on the part of the prosecution made life easy for OJ’s lawyers. They acquitted Simpson of the two murder charges. However, he later was convicted for pending civil lawsuits. He has been living freely since getting out in 2017 and recently made some headlines when he made some controversial remarks about Brittney Griner’s release.
